# Search Console bulk export

The **Search Console bulk export** is a Google feature that schedules a daily export of a property's performance data to BigQuery, Google's cloud data warehouse. Once the data is there, it can be queried with SQL and kept beyond the window the Search Console interface shows.

## How does the export work?

Google describes the export as containing all performance data available for the property, with the exception of anonymized queries. It runs daily. According to Google's setup guide, the first export arrives within 48 hours of setup. The export creates three tables: `searchdata_site_impression` for property-level data, `searchdata_url_impression` for URL-level data and `ExportLog` for export status.

The reference also describes a field `is_anonymized_query`. Rare queries are flagged with it, and the query field is then null. Google's pages are not fully consistent on whether such rows appear in the export, so check the tables before relying on totals.

The export only collects data going forward. For data from before the setup, Google's setup guide points to the Search Console API or the reports, and Google's John Mueller said in 2023 that no historical export is planned.

## How much more data does the export contain?

A single-day comparison by searchVIU (2023) showed that the gap grows with site size. For a large site, the export held about 160,500 distinct queries and 19,212 URLs, while the interface stopped at 1,000 rows and the API query used in the test returned 5,000. For a small site with 119 URLs and 1,437 queries, the API and the export returned the same numbers. On that day, 88% of the large site's queries had just one impression.

## Example

A team wants to compare clicks by page template over two years. The interface covers a limited window. Starting the export now and querying the BigQuery tables later builds that longer record from day one. (Invented example.)
