# Search Console Insights

**Search Console Insights** is a report in Google Search Console that summarizes key metrics and traffic changes of a site in a simplified form. It is aimed at site owners who want a quick overview of trends.

## What does the report show?

According to Google's help page, it consists of six cards:

- clicks and impressions in Search
- your content, grouped into top, trending up and trending down
- queries that lead to your site
- top countries
- branded and non-branded traffic
- additional traffic sources: image, video and news search, and Discover

Google says the report is being introduced gradually and may not be available to everyone. The branded filter is not available for sub-properties or for sites with few impressions. Query grouping appears only for sites with enough query volume. Insights about social channels are experimental.

Google announced a redesigned report in June 2025. Earlier versions of Insights, which ExactMetrics describes, combined Search Console and Analytics data and had a different structure, so older tutorials may not match the current screens.

## When to use the Performance report

For custom filters, comparisons or exports, the Performance report is the better tool.

## Example

An editorial team opens Insights to see which articles gained clicks in the period and which queries are new. For one page it switches to the Performance report. (Invented example.)
