Google Search Status Dashboard

Also known as: Search Status Dashboard

The Google Search Status Dashboard is a status page where Google reports widespread issues and ranking updates affecting Google Search. It is at status.search.google.com.

What does it show?

The summary groups Search into four areas: Crawling, Indexing, Serving and Ranking. Each area has one of four statuses: Available, Service information, Service disruption or Service outage. All times are shown in US/Pacific time.

Every incident has its own page with start, end and a log of updates. The ranking history lists core updates, spam updates and other ranking changes. Google’s help page says the dashboard keeps a history of about five years and offers RSS feeds for notifications.

Only problems that affect a large number of sites or users are listed. If a single site has trouble, the dashboard will not show it, and Google points site owners to the Search Central help community.

Example

The entry for the March 2024 spam update gives March 5, 2024 as the start and March 20, 2024 as the end. Someone who saw ranking swings in that window can check whether a rollout was running.

FAQ

Does the dashboard show problems with my own site? No. It reports issues on Google’s side. Site-specific problems appear in Google Search Console.
