How is it set up?

Google’s documentation names four supported content types: course lists, movies, recipes and restaurants. The ItemList needs an itemListElement with at least two ListItem entries, and all items must be of the same type.

There are two models. A summary page lists the items briefly and points to detail pages on the same domain, each with full structured data. An all-in-one page contains everything and links to anchors on the same page. Every ListItem needs a position starting at 1 and a canonical url; the all-in-one model also needs item.

The main carousel guide is not marked as beta. A separate Google page, “Structured data carousels (beta)”, covers a beta version that Google says is available only in the European Economic Area, Türkiye and South Africa, for queries such as hotels, local businesses, things to do and products. It also uses ItemList markup (documentation last updated September 2026).
