Product snippets

Also known as: product snippet structured data

Product snippets are search results that include extra product information such as ratings, review details, price and availability. In SEO the term refers to this Google feature; code snippets and social media snippets are separate topics.

What does the markup need?

Google requires name plus at least one of review, aggregateRating or offers in Product markup. The page must focus on a single product, not a list or category. Eligible pages include product review pages, shopping aggregators and editorial reviews. A search result with this markup can show ratings, price or availability, though Google does not guarantee any of them.

Pages where shoppers can buy the product directly should use merchant listing markup, which has its own requirements and its own Search Console report.

Example

HTML
<script type="application/ld+json">
{
  "@context": "https://schema.org",
  "@type": "Product",
  "name": "Trail running shoe",
  "aggregateRating": { "@type": "AggregateRating", "ratingValue": 4.4, "reviewCount": 87 }
}
</script>
